The average imp stands about 2 feet tall, with leathery wings spanning about 3 feet. Their shape is roughly humanoid, with a possible spectrum of possible beastlike features like horns, fangs, claws, and tails.

Imps are the most common devils found on the Prime Material Plane, delighting in the opportunity to corrupt mortal souls into ripe fodder for the pits of Hell. They frequently offer their services to wizards as familiars, using their magical abilities presumably to aid their master but secretly working to tempt him into acts of depravity and sociopathy.
Imps who have found themselves without a mortal master (by accident, misadventure, or design) may remain on the Prime Material Plane, unfettered as they are by the rank and file duties of more powerful devils, and frequently become pests in mortal settlements, or even leaders to bands of savage humanoids like goblins or kobolds.
